David Ritz, DO 

Dr. Ritz is one of the newest members of the esteemed team at Long Island Surgical PLLC in Rockville Centre. He graduated from Ohio University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering. While working as an engineer, he realized his true calling was surgery. He received his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harlem, New York, completed his residency in General Surgery at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, New York, and fulfilled a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. 

Dr. Ritz’s approach to patient care includes treating patients like his family, which involves always being available on his cell phone. In addition to seeing patients at Long Island Surgical, Dr. Ritz has admitting privileges at Mercy Medical Center, Mount Sinai South Nassau, and St. Joseph’s Hospital. 

His main areas of practice are hernia, gallbladder, and gastrointestinal surgery. He also performs tracheostomies, places chemotherapy ports, and treats soft tissue masses, infections, and wounds. 

Dr. Ritz is board-certified in General Surgery and board-eligible in Surgical Critical Care. He is also an active member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma and the American College of Surgeons. 

Dr. Ritz is fluent in English, Russian and Hebrew, and he speaks limited Spanish.
